Regular slotted boxes made to size
The most widely used cardboard box there is, and available from us in any internal size. Four flaps on top, four below, closed with tape. Our production partner Cattini makes them to your dimensions in 2, 3 or 5-ply corrugated board.
The regular slotted container, or RSC, is the industry standard. All flaps are the same length and the two inner flaps meet in the middle. That means the box can be die-cut in a single shape, which makes it cheaper than almost any other model.
The number of plies determines how much the box can take. Three-ply board, one fluted layer between two flat liners, makes the lightest box and is the most common choice for shipping. Five-ply has two fluted layers and is used for heavy or stackable loads, or for export where the box spends a long time in transit. Two-ply board is mainly used as a wrap.
Because the boxes are produced per order and we supply nothing from stock, an unusual size usually costs no more than a common one. That often saves more than the boxes themselves: a box that fits your product exactly saves void fill, lowers the volumetric weight your carrier charges, and reduces the risk of damage.
What you use this packaging for
Four situations in which the regular slotted box is the logical choice.
- Shipping from a web shop
The standard for parcel post. With an internal size that fits your product, you do not pay for air and need less void fill.
- Warehouse storage
Three or five-ply is stackable. A fixed internal size matched to your racking saves space across the whole warehouse.
- Export outside Europe
Five-ply corrugated board holds up better during transhipment and changing humidity in sea freight.
- Moving house
Ordered in one size and delivered stacked.

Frequently asked questions
What do 2, 3 and 5-ply mean?
The number of paper webs. Two-ply is a flat liner with a flute attached and is mainly used as a wrap. Three-ply is a flute between two liners: the ordinary shipping box. Five-ply has two flutes and two intermediate liners, for heavy or stackable loads.
Can I order a single box as a sample?
A single box cannot be ordered: the boxes are produced per order and the minimum order is 1,000 units. We can, however, send a sample; delivery takes 3 to 4 weeks. Request one via the form at the bottom of the homepage.
Should I give internal or external dimensions?
Internal, in the order length by width by height. That is the space your product needs. The external size follows from it and differs per board grade, because thicker board adds more.
How much clearance should I allow?
Ten millimetres per direction is common for a sturdy product; five millimetres only for a tight-fitting, sturdy product, and more if protective material has to fit around it. Our calculator works this out for you and shows how much empty space remains.
