What is really in your shipment?
Most companies only register the box. Enter every component below and you will get the weight per material per year, plus an overview of the documentation you still need.
The box is not the only packaging. Void fill, tape, labels, protective bags and an enclosed return bag all count too — for your packaging records and for your Verpact declaration. Anyone who only weighs the box reports too little.
What we can supply about our own boxes — material data and the manufacturer's EU declaration of conformity — is on this page.
Your data stays in your own browser and is not sent anywhere. This overview is a tool, not legal advice; it does not say whether you comply.
1. How many shipments per year?
An estimate is enough. We use this to calculate your annual figures.
2. Which components make up one shipment?
Weigh one item on a kitchen scale — that is accurate enough. If you don't know the weight, leave it blank; the component will then appear in the gap list.
No components added yet.
3. Your annual figures per material
This is the classification used by Verpact. Whether you have to file a declaration depends on your role and on the quantity: if you place less than 50,000 kg of packaging on the Dutch market per year, an exemption applies.
This overview is a tool, not legal advice. It shows what you have entered and what is missing.

4. What is still missing
For each component you need from your supplier: a material declaration (what it is made of), a declaration on heavy metals and substances of concern, information on inks, coatings and adhesives, and for plastic the recycled content. If your supplier is the manufacturer of the component, also ask for the EU declaration of conformity.
Why every component counts
Most businesses think of packaging as the box. But everything that goes with your product to contain, protect or transport it is packaging: the tape, the label, the void fill, the protective bag, an enclosed return bag and the pallet the shipment stands on.
The distinction is not theoretical. For a declaration to Verpact, the weight per material counts, and those materials run right through your shipment. A cardboard box with plastic tape and a paper label touches three categories at once. Declaring only the box means declaring too little.
For shipping packaging, Verpact has applied a temporary pause since July 2026: until the European Commission clarifies who counts as the producer, you file your declaration as before 12 August 2026. Check verpact.nl for the current position (as of 16 October 2026).
How the calculation works
For each component you enter the weight in grams, how many go in one shipment and which material they are made of. The register multiplies that by the number of shipments per year and adds it up per material category. The result is kilos per year: paper and board, plastic, glass, metal, wood and other.
The register also tracks which documentation you hold per component. Not to say whether you comply — that is a legal judgement about a chain we do not know — but to make visible where a gap remains. A component without a supplier or without a material declaration is a component you will not be able to say anything about.
Frequently asked questions
Should I include the pallet?
Yes, if it travels with the shipment to the customer. A wooden pallet counts under wood, a cardboard pallet under paper and board. If the pallet moves back and forth in a return system, the situation differs; check that with your adviser.
What if I do not know the exact weight?
Weigh one item on a kitchen scale. That is accurate enough to see the order of magnitude and to discover which components really matter. For the actual declaration you use the figures from your supplier.
I have several types of shipment. How do I handle that?
Fill in the register per shipment type and export each result separately. You then add up across all your shipment types yourself; the register calculates per type.
Does this overview say whether I comply?
No, and that is a deliberate choice. It shows what you have and what is missing. Whether you comply depends on your entire packaging chain and on how your products reach the market. That is a judgement we cannot make for you.
