Cardboard pallets in euro-pallet format
A corrugated board pallet in the same format as the wooden euro-pallet, with a seven-ply deck. It is made entirely of paper and board and goes in with the waste paper after use. Single-use, without any deposit arrangement.
The first point is the return flow, or rather the absence of it. Wooden pallets have to come back, are exchanged or get lost, and that takes administration. A cardboard pallet goes into the recipient's waste paper. For one-way shipments to customers you do not visit regularly, an entire logistics chain disappears.
The second point applies to export. The international standard ISPM 15 sets requirements for wood packaging material: it must be treated and marked before it may cross a border. A pallet made entirely of paper and board does not fall under it; treatment and the ISPM 15 mark are then not needed. Some countries set their own import requirements; check them for your destination.
What you use this packaging for
Where a cardboard pallet delivers the most.
- Air freight
You pay per kilo. The weight difference with a wooden pallet comes straight off your freight price, on every single shipment.
- One-way shipments
No return logistics, no pallet exchange, no administration about what is where. The pallet goes into the recipient's waste paper. Please note: if you ship within the EU, reuse targets for pallets apply from 2030 (Article 29 PPWR). Cardboard boxes are exempt from them; pallets are not expressly exempt. Check this with your adviser.
- Export outside the EU
A pallet made entirely of board does not fall under the treatment requirement for wood packaging. That removes a step from your export process; do check the requirements of the destination country.
- No splinters, no nails
No splinters, no nails, no risk of woodworm.

Frequently asked questions
How much can a cardboard pallet carry?
That depends on how the load is distributed and whether it will be stacked. An evenly distributed load carries far better than concentrated weight on a small area. Provide the weight and dimensions of your load with your request and we can check what is suitable.
Can it be handled with a normal forklift or pallet truck?
The format is that of the euro-pallet, so the fork openings match standard equipment. Ask about the version that suits your internal handling when you request a quote.
What happens if it gets wet?
Corrugated board loses strength when it gets wet. For outdoor storage or transport in wet conditions a cardboard pallet is not the right choice. Indoors, and under film during transport, that is not an issue.
Do I have to report it to Verpact?
A cardboard pallet is packaging and counts in your declaration, under the paper and board material category, if you are required to declare. A wooden pallet counts under wood. Our packaging register maps those kilos per material category.
